DeAndre Hopkins joining the Tennessee Titans prompted plenty of mockery and criticism among NFL fans.

First, the fact that the Titans refused to pay A.J. Brown and then signed an older wideout made no sense.

Then, Hopkins claiming that he wanted to play for a contender and then joining the Titans was also kind of head-scratching.

Nonetheless, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network recently reported that Hopkins’ desire to play in Tennessee wasn’t just about the money, stating that he actually believes they have a chance to win the whole thing.

Truth be told, it’s hard to envision the Titans going deep into the playoffs this season, even with a savvy coach such as Mike Vrabel, and even if Derrick Henry has another record-breaking season.

Their offensive line is far from good, and they don’t have any other threat in the passing game outside of Hopkins, who enters the season with a big chip on his shoulder, but also with plenty of question marks about his durability and ability to dominate as much as he did in the past.

Add a less-than-impressive quarterback like Ryan Tannehill to that mix, and things don’t look that well for the Titans in 2023.

The Titans play in a somewhat winnable division, but they’re not a better team than the Jacksonville Jaguars right now.

But one never knows what might happen in the league, and if Hopkins is able to stay on the field and turn back the clock, they could still at least have a chance at playoff contention.
