The New York Giants shocked the NFL last year by making the playoffs and winning a playoff game.
Most people expected the Giants to be bottom-feeders in the NFC and fight for a top-10 pick.
Yet, thanks to the coaching of Brian Daboll the Giants finished with a record of 9-7-1.
Also, Daboll should be given credit for getting the best out of quarterback Daniel Jones.
Jones put together a strong season in which he limited his turnovers and was a strong game manager.
But the Giants felt Jones’ play was worthy of him receiving a $40+ million per year extension.
Jones will be expected to do much more this upcoming year as he is being paid like one of the top quarterbacks.
Yet, the start of joint practices has not gone well.
According to Connor Hughes, Jones is struggling to complete passes and has looked bad.
He even mentioned how guys are open but Jones is not hitting them.
Through five 11-on-11 drills I have Daniel Jones 5 of 12. Gardner-Johnson dropped an INT on a very bad pass. There was also a sack of Hutchinson. If you don’t count that sack he’s 6 of 13.
It’s been a rough one for the QB. Guys are open. He’s just not hitting them. #Giants…

While it is still early in training camp, this is not the news Giants fans wanted to hear.
Jones will be the future quarterback in New York and must play up to that standard.
Hughes also pointed out how the Lions defense has significantly outplayed the Giants offense in practice.
#Giants first-team offense is through two drills against the #Lions defense. The Lions are outplaying the Giants pretty significantly.
Barkley has three runs for very little. Daniel Jones is 1 of 4 with a sack.

Not Jones nor running back Saquon Barkley have been able to get anything going.
It will be interesting to see how the Giants respond to playing with expectations this year.
They will not be able to sneak up on teams and may have difficulty maneuvering through the NFC.
