The New York Giants have Saquon Barkley on the field, which is their biggest win of their offseason.
And judging by some of the pictures we’ve seen on social media lately, it seems like he’s in the best shape of his career.
That’s why NFL legend Barry Sanders took to Twitter and jokingly reminisced of the time when he was all jacked, just like Barkley is nowadays, adding that he’s had a very good time during the Detroit Lions’ joint practices with the Giants.
I remember when my abs looked like that.
I have really enjoyed these @Lions – @Giants practices. https://t.co/e6eq5gDiyX

Barkley threatened to hold out for the season, and the Giants simply didn’t stand a chance to make the playoffs without him on the field.
He was — rightfully — angry after the Giants lowballed him throughout the course of the offseason and had refused to play under the franchise tag.
Eventually, both parties were able to avoid a more uncomfortable situation by agreeing to a one-year deal.
He was coming off the best season of his career, and he’ll have a huge chip on his shoulder in 2023 to prove why they needed to pay him as much money as he wanted.
Ironically, Barkley coming back didn’t exactly do a lot to help his case.
The Giants can simply place him under the franchise tag again next season, and the cycle will start again.
Running backs are struggling to get paid what they’re actually worth, and if not even one of the best players at the position can get a deal, things don’t look good for the mid and low-tier guys right now.
