Team USA is getting ready to compete in the FIBA World Cup later this month, and it wants to avenge what happened in the last tournament when it finished only seventh.

The team has a fairly star-studded cast this time around which features Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson, and Brandon Ingram.

Another NBA star who was selected to participate in the FIBA World Cup is the Boston Celtics‘ Kristaps Porzingis, who is representing his home country of Latvia.

However, he could end up missing the tournament due to a foot injury he is reportedly nursing, via Rubert Fabig and NBACentral.

When he is healthy, the 7-foot-3 Porzingis is one of the best centers in the NBA — he has career averages of 19.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocked shots per game.

However, he has had trouble staying healthy since entering the NBA for the 2015-16 season, and he has appeared in at least 70 games in a single season only once.

Porzingis, who spent the last season and change with the Washington Wizards, was sent to the Celtics just weeks ago in a trade that saw them lose Marcus Smart.

Some feel it is a risky trade, given Porzingis’ injury history and the fact that Smart was the heart and soul of the Celtics’ defense, which was one of the best in the league.

In addition, Boston has lost most of their depth, and their bench was already somewhat of a question mark.

Still, behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the team should still be a contender and win plenty of regular season games this coming season.
