Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera caused quite a stir this week when he let it be known publicly that some of his players on offense have been coming up to him complaining about how new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy tries to get them in line.
Bieniemy was hired by the team this summer after winning his second Super Bowl title with the Kansas City Chiefs as the coordinator calling the shots for arguably the best offense in the NFL over the past half-decade.
Even though Bieniemy may be a bit rough around the edges, the veteran offensive coordinator gets results, and this is a results-driven business in the NFL, which is likely why the team hired him.
However, Joy Taylor believes Bieniemy’s coaching style is a bit ancient and should no longer be tolerated among the players in the NFL, via “Speak” on FS1.

Essentially, Taylor said that coaches in the NFL are babysitting rather than coaching these days, which is a wild statement to make, as it downplays everything a football coach does.
Taylor says you can talk to most coaches in the league and that most of their job is being a “therapist” and “people management,” emphasizing communication.
Football is a brutal sport that will quickly root out the weak links.
Treating players like glass that will break is likely not the way to go when that team wants to win football games.
If Bieniemy had a track record of not being a winner and not being good at his job, then this would be a different story, but he knows what he’s doing and gets the job done.
