There are many reasons to look forward to next season if you’re a Phoenix Suns fan.

Obviously, having Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, and Bradley Beal start for them makes them arguably the biggest contender in the league.

But besides that, the organization is also looking to honor one of the best players from their recent past.

Recently, retired forward Shawn Marion was told the team plans to retire his No. 31 jersey.

Marion joined SiriusXM NBA Radio to talk about how honored he was by this, as he’ll join a very exclusive list of past players.

Marion will also be joined by Amar’e Stoudemire to round up one of the most imposing forward duos of the mid-2000s.

Despite his unorthodox shooting mechanics — perhaps the most unique in NBA history –, Marion was always an efficient scorer from all three levels, not to mention an elite and versatile defender, a physical rebounder, and a guy who could push the pace every single time he had the ball on his hands.

Most young fans may not remember him for his role with that iconic ‘Seven seconds or less’ offense coached by Mike D’Antoni, but he was also a steady contributor to Dirk Nowitzki’s Dallas Mavericks in that championship run in 2011.

Props to Marion for this huge achievement and well deserved after all he did for the team that drafted him out of UNLV.
