On Wednesday, Michael Lorenzen made just his second start with the Philadelphia Phillies after being traded to the defending National League champions from the Detroit Tigers.

It was his first start at Citizens Bank Park as a member of the Phillies, and he certainly made the most of it.

Lorenzen tossed a no-hitter against the Washington Nationals as the Phillies won by a final score of 7-0.

The cleats he wore in Wednesday’s game, courtesy of Vans, will now have their own special place in baseball history.

On Twitter, the National Baseball Hall of Fame posted a picture of Lorenzen holding his cleats and announced that the cleats would be headed to Cooperstown.

Lorenzen may not be a household name, but he certainly made his mark on baseball history with such a dominant performance against the Nationals.

And now, the cleats he wore for Wednesday’s game will have their own special place in Cooperstown, as they will be sent to the Hall of Fame museum to commemorate the moment that Lorenzen finished off his no-hitter.

The right-hander certainly had a night to remember at Citizens Bank Park.

Lorenzen has only been with the Phillies for about a week, and he already has made some important contributions to the team.

Wednesday night was a historic night for the right-hander, as he completed the 14th no-hitter in Phillies history.

The Hall of Fame will now hold a piece of that history with the cleats officially being donated.

Lorenzen may not end up in the Hall of Fame, but he’ll at least have a claim to history after such a dominant start.
