There is no doubt that Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers is one of the best basketball players alive.
That was made very clear last season when he had one of his greatest years yet and also won his first MVP trophy.
That means he’s probably just as frustrated as all Sixers fans are that his team isn’t able to go all the way to the Finals after years of promises.
According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Embiid is “very involved” with the front office and their plans for the future.
She said that this upcoming season is a very pivotal one for the team because they need to start assembling a squad around Embiid that can really win.
For the last few weeks, Sixers fans have had a lot to worry about.
It was bad enough when they heard that James Harden had demanded a trade from the team.
But things were made even worse when a comment from Embiid during a Q&A session threw his future with the team into doubt.
According to Shelburne, things aren’t that worrisome with Embiid.
She claims that he won’t be jetting from the team if they don’t claim a championship in 2023-24.
But he is definitely wanting the front office to do something, including something big, to ensure success in the upcoming seasons.
Because of careful planning, they should have a decent amount of cap space to play around with.
They will be able to take a run at several big-name stars.
This is good news because it brings them talent and it also pleases Embiid.
And while the Sixers have shown that they won’t give in to player demands and will do whatever they think is best for their future, they will bend over backward to keep Embiid happy.
