If you ever think you can beat an active or former NBA player, you can’t.

Even the bottom-of-the-bench guys, the journeymen, and most likely the G Leaguers will give you buckets all day; that’s just the way it is.

Some find it the hard way, and young players are often welcomed to the league in an embarrassing fashion by some of the older dogs.

That happened to Miami Heat rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr., who hasn’t-even played a single minute in the NBA and has already gone viral for getting dropped while guarding a veteran.

As seen in the clip shared by Overtime, John Wall took Jaquez’s ankles during their game at a Pro-Am tournament in Miami, with everybody in attendance cheering and jeering.

Notably, it’s been more than a while since Wall has dropped anyone in the NBA, but he’s still better than most basketball players all over the world.

Not so long ago, Wall was one of the best playmakers in the game, a perennial All-Star candidate, and one of the highest earners in the league.

But life comes at you fast in the NBA, and one injury can change the course of your career in the blink of an eye, which is another lesson he could teach the younger players.

He’ll continue to push for a spot on a roster, but chances are we’ll never get to see him start for a team again.

As for Jaquez, he already got his “welcome to the NBA” moment, and we’re not even in October; that’s gotta hurt.
