Nick Bosa and the San Francisco 49ers have been at odds during the offseason.
Bosa is in search of a contract extension, as he is only tied to the team through the end of this year.
A former No. 2 overall pick, Bosa is rumored to be in search of one of the largest defensive contracts in the league.
On a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Michael Lombardi predicted a potential timeline for Bosa’s return.
“I think after the second preseason game we’ll see him back on the field,” Lombardi said.

As the 49ers and NFL News page points out, this is a likely indication that Bosa will get an extension before the season begins.
Without a contract extension, Bosa has been holding out of training camp.
Each day he misses is another lost opportunity for him to grow rapport with his teammates.
His situation is a bit different than other players across the league who are currently sitting out.
Bosa is still on his rookie deal, and his fines for missing training camp can be rescinded.
Other players, such as Zack Martin of the Dallas Cowboys, don’t get that luxury, having to pay a daily fine.
The 49ers have been routinely touted as one of the league’s best defenses, and Bosa has been a big part of that.
If he isn’t extended, the 49ers run the risk of Bosa sitting out for the season.
However, Lombardi still believes the team will get a deal done, locking Bosa down for the foreseeable future.
