The Minnesota Timberwolves landed a true diamond when they got Anthony Edwards.

It didn’t take long before the former No. 1 pick burst onto the scene and proved why everyone was so high on him coming out of Georgia.

Besides his stellar play, relentless work ethic, and determination to be better every single day — even on defense –, Edwards gave the Timberwolves the very thing they were missing since Jimmy Butler left.

He’s just a competitor, and not even teaming up with some of the best young players in the game for Team USA has been enough to put that aside.

Recently, the Georgia product told ClutchPoints that all rivalries are still there despite being teammates on the national team (Digit Hoops).

That’s the kind of mentality that you want to see from your star.

Karl-Anthony Towns is a very good player, but he’s crumbled under pressure more often than not, and he’s failed to lead the Timberwolves to the promised land when given the opportunity.

Edwards, on the other hand, and despite being younger, put the team on his shoulders when they were struggling last season, willed them into the playoffs, and even single-handedly took a game from the eventual champions, Denver Nuggets.

Anthony Edwards is a special kind of talent, and it’ll be years before he scratches the surface of his potential.
