The New York Jets have been one of the most-discussed teams of the NFL offseason.
Many conversations have surrounded the offense, considering Aaron Rodgers is now QB1.
Peter Schrager highlighted another vital positional group in a recent ‘Good Morning Football’ segment.
“The Jets defense hasn’t gotten nearly the attention as their QB and young offensive stars this summer,” Schrager said.
“The @nyjets defense hasn’t gotten nearly the same attention as their QB and young offensive stars this summer, but their defensive line can be scary. Depth, talent, youth. It was all on display on Saturday vs. Carolina.”

Schrager indicated if this defense can put up similar performances in the regular season that they did in the preseason game, the Jets will be in good shape.
Led by the likes of Sauce Gardner, Quinnen Williams, Jermaine Johnson, and C.J. Mosley, the Jets are loaded with defensive talent.
Will this talent materialize into tangible, on-field results?
As Schrager pointed out, even the team’s non-starters performed well during their preseason game.
They shut out the Carolina Panthers, winning 27-0.
In this rout, the Jets’ defense racked up five sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery.
If they can consistently do that in the regular season, they’ll give themselves a distinct advantage over their competition.
Gardner and some of their other defensive stars didn’t play in this game, meaning they’ll have even better chances during the regular season.
The Jets currently hold the longest active playoff drought in the league, which spans 12 years.
Many project them to break that drought this season with a combination of great offense and an improved defense.
With less than a month until the regular season begins, fans won’t have to wait long to see if these predictions come true.
