James Harden, Daryl Morey, and the Philadelphia 76ers need to accept the fact that he’s no longer the player he used to be.
Harden tried to leverage his way into a big contract in the offseason, but there were no takers.
So, what makes Morey think that someone is going to be willing to pay a lot to get him in a trade?
And if that’s the case, then why try and hold on so desperately to him?
At least, that’s what sports analyst Skip Bayless seems to think right now, as he took to Twitter to question whether someone’s going to be willing to vouch for a 34-year-old injury-prone player who doesn’t stay in good shape.
James Harden does not stay in great shape, almost 34. At some point he’ll be more trouble than worth. But last yr did lead NBA in assists. Vs Celts in playoffs, did score 45 and 42. (But in other 5, averaged 14 … only 9 in G7). Morey still fascinated by him. But is anyone else?

Bayless doesn’t usually sugarcoat things or mince his words about these subjects, but he might be right on point this time.
The market pretty much talked to Harden in the offseason, but he didn’t listen.
If no one wants to meet the Sixers’ asking price for him, that’s not Morey’s fault, even if he lied to him and made him a promise he’s not willing to honor now.
As of now, it doesn’t seem like there will be any winners from the Harden saga.
But if you’re unhappy and feel mistreated everywhere you go, maybe your team isn’t the problem.
