The Jacksonville Jaguars finished the 2022 NFL season with a 9-8 record.
This was a far cry from their 2021 record of 3-14, which was due to many factors the organization was dealing with.
Trevor Lawrence has been credited as a large reason for the Jaguars’ turnaround.
In a recent press conference shared via Around the NFL, Doug Pederson talked about past great QBs and called Lawrence “One of those guys.”

When Lawrence entered the NFL, he was touted as the best prospect since Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning.
While the statistics from his rookie campaign left something to be desired, Lawrence completely turned it around last year.
Pederson chalked this up to an increase in “confidence,” along with “the understanding of the offense, and the dialogue that we have.”
Lawrence finished the 2022 season with 4,133 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions.
This was significantly improved from his first season of 3,641 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions.
The Jaguars believe in Lawrence as the future of their franchise.
Ahead of the 2023 campaign, the Jaguars signed Calvin Ridley, who has already proven in training camp that he has plenty left in the tank.
If he’s healthy throughout the year, Ridley’s veteran presence and on-field abilities should give Lawrence increased confidence.
The AFC South could be the Jaguars for the taking, especially given the current state of their divisional opponents.
Lawrence is a stable figure as the franchise quarterback, something that can’t be said about the other teams in the division.
