The National League Wild Card has quietly become a very fascinating race.
The Miami Marlins are currently holding the third and final Wild Card spot in the NL, but the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, and Arizona Diamondbacks are all breathing down their necks.
However, there could be an opening for certain teams that find themselves further back in the race.
On Tuesday, the Marlins, Cubs, Reds, and Philadelphia Phillies all lost.
Philadelphia currently leads the Wild Card race.
On Twitter, MLB insider Bob Nightengale pointed out that four teams had lost on Tuesday and that there may in fact be an opening for certain teams trying to get back into the race.

The D-Backs and San Diego Padres are the closest behind the Cubs, Reds, and Marlins.
Arizona is 2.5 games back of the Marlins, while the Padres sit 5.5 back.
Despite a poor record of 57-63, the Padres do in fact still have a chance to get back into the Wild Card race.
The New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, and St. Louis Cardinals are all 8.5 games back, but any chance of getting back into the race for those teams has essentially already been squashed.
Still, things could get interesting down the stretch.
Arizona and San Diego are still very much alive in the race and could possibly get themselves back in the mix.
The D-Backs are close in the race, so they still have a chance.
The Padres would need a little bit of help, but 5.5 games is not insurmountable.
