The Miami Dolphins have Super Bowl aspirations this season, and at the very least, they’re hoping to have more success than they have had in a long time.
They haven’t won a playoff game since the 2000 season and haven’t won the Super Bowl since all the way back in the 1973 campaign.
Training camp hasn’t gone well for them so far, as Jalen Ramsey, their new star cornerback, suffered a knee injury and will be out until at least December.
Until he returns, the Dolphins’ hopes will rest even more on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and Rich Eisen feels a healthy and “salty” Tagovailoa will be a huge factor in Miami’s success.

Last season, Tagovailoa had something of a breakout campaign, as he threw for 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns, but he suffered multiple concussions, and his health is a big concern, as Eisen pointed out.
He certainly has weapons at his disposal, including the incredible wide receiver duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
Hill had a career-high 1,710 receiving yards last year, while Waddle tapped into his potential and collected 1,356 yards while leading the NFL with 18.1 yards per reception.
The defense was problematic last year, but they do have the services of Xavien Howard, a four-time Pro Bowler who is one of the game’s best corners.
Eisen also pointed out the hire of defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who made his name as the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers a decade ago when they got to the Super Bowl on the strength of a very stingy defense, as something that will help.
But the AFC is very deep, and it could be the one thing above all else that prevents Miami from having a successful 2023 season.
