Aaron Rodgers Says Jets O-Line Is A ‘Work In Progress’

In the NFL this season, much of the spotlight is on the new-look New York Jets, who feel they have a legitimate shot at winning the Super Bowl.

The biggest reason why is the arrival of future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has a couple of his old wide receivers and his old offensive coordinator in Nathaniel Hackett with him in the Tri-state area.

Earlier this week, New York also added four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook, which has made the spotlight even brighter and hotter.

But there is already a concern for them — their offensive line.

Rodgers admitted to the media, via Kyle McDonald, that the offensive line is a “work in progress,” although he displayed some optimism.

Aaron Rodgers on the #Jets offensive line:

“I thought we played a lot better up front today. It’s a work in progress.”

Rodgers also added that he thinks “continuity of the guys playing together,” will help a lot when they find their starting five lineman. pic.twitter.com/jRTEXq2daM

At age 38, Rodgers likely isn’t quite as mobile as he was when he was younger, which means having a functional offensive line will be key to the Jets’ chances this year.

However, more than anything else, how far they go will depend on Rodgers himself.

After winning the regular-season MVP in 2020 and 2021, his production significantly dipped in 2022 during his last season with the Green Bay Packers.

It remains to be seen if that drop was due more to mileage or to the departure of star wide receiver Davante Adams the previous offseason.

Due to the insane depth of talent across the AFC, perhaps it isn’t even a certainty that the Jets will make the playoffs, let alone play for the world championship.

They haven’t made the playoffs since the 2010 season, and they haven’t claimed the Vince Lombardi Trophy since all the way back in the 1968 campaign.
