The Minnesota Timberwolves may have underperformed during the 2022-23 season, but the franchise has brighter days ahead as Anthony Edwards continues his ascent.
Edwards, the No. 1 overall pick from the 2020 NBA Draft, has improved every year and is currently leading Team USA during their exhibition slate in preparation for the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup.
With his blend of athleticism, speed, and shotmaking Edwards has all the tools required to be a superstar in the league.
What makes Edwards so impressive is his fearlessness in scoring the basketball no matter the situation.
His game is reminiscent of many of the great scorers that have come through the NBA which is perhaps why it was no surprise who he named as his all-time favorite player via ClutchPoints:
“He just remind me of myself. He just don’t care. He treat the game like the ball can do two things, you gonna make the shot or you gonna miss the shot.”

For many players of Edwards’ age, Kevin Durant is a role model considering his meteoric rise when he came into the league.
Unlike Edwards, Durant possesses positional size and a smooth handle that allows him to get to any spot on the floor and shoot over defenders rather easily.
To Edwards’ point, though, the two do have a knack for taking over games offensively when required and that’s a requisite for any star player who hopes to lead their teams to victory.
The best scorers in basketball have a next-shot mentality and are able to shake off any poor performances, and it appears as though Edwards has already adopted that mindset.
The Timberwolves may have trouble trying to compete in the 2023-24 season because of how stacked the Western Conference is, but Edwards’ development should leave some optimism that they’ll be fine moving forward.
