The Houston Texans entered the 2023 Draft in a favorable position.

They had the No. 2 overall pick and were believed to be targeting a quarterback.

After selecting C.J. Stroud, the Texans weren’t done.

Will Anderson Jr. was widely viewed as the best defender in the draft, and after taking Stroud, the Texans traded up to select him as well.

If reporter Nick Schwager’s recently shared clip is any indication, Anderson could live up to his pre-draft hype.

That’s a #3 overall pick play right there.

No wonder why he’s the favorite to win DROTY.

In this video, Anderson mows down a running back, getting to the quarterback with ease, a hopeful sign of his future.

His sheer size and strength allowed him to force a fumble, eventually leading to a sack.

While this was just a preseason game, it gives hope to Texans fans that Anderson is a force to be reckoned with.

As Schwager points out, Anderson is the front-runner to win Defensive Rookie of the Year, citing this video as an exclamation point.

In his rookie campaign, Anderson could bring this winning mindset to a team that struggled last year.

The Texans’ defense allowed 24.7 points per game in 2022, the sixth-highest mark in the league.

If Anderson pans out how the organization drafted him, he’ll be an immediate help to an offense.

With any luck, he’ll not only make his case for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award but inspire his teammates to work harder to get stops.

As Stroud enters his rookie year alongside Anderson, he’ll need all the time he can to succeed in year one.
