There have been fewer NBA prospects touted higher than Victor Wembanyama.

Wembanyama hasn’t played a regular season game for the San Antonio Spurs, but he is already a fan favorite.

For an organization that had one of the worst records in the NBA last season, Wembanyama provides great hope.

There has already been a large mural created of Wembanyama, which was recently shared via Legion Hoops.

San Antonio clearly loves Victor Wembanyama

This mural is a sign that the city has already latched on to him, similar to what they did with Tony Parker.

The fan reaction to this mural on Twitter is a further indication of Wembanyana’s popularity.

Greatest player in the greatest city

From already calling Wembanyama the “GOAT” to wishing they could move to San Antonio, the fan response is very strong.

Now, all he has to do is perform.

Easy enough, right?

Wembanyama has a lot of expectations on his shoulders, which could be a lot for a rookie.

However, LeBron James found himself in a similar situation, bringing the city of Cleveland back to NBA relevancy.

With any luck, Wembanyama will be like James, giving San Antonio a show on the court and proving his worth as a generational talent.

The Spurs haven’t had a winning record since the 2018-2019 campaign.

Last year was their worst overall record in over 20 years, meaning Wembanyama has a lot of work to do.

With the Spurs’ situation being the way it is, there is no telling what they will do in Wembanyama’s rookie season.
