Rich Eisen Discusses If The Seahawks Can Contend This Season

The Seattle Seahawks were one of the few surprise teams in the NFL last season, with the team seemingly doing the impossible after trading away the face of their franchise to the Denver Broncos.

After the Seahawks sent superstar quarterback Russell Wilson to the Broncos, the consensus was that the team was rebuilding with their sights on the future rather than trying to compete right now.

However, veteran quarterback Geno Smith took over for Wilson and had his best season in the NFL, making the Pro Bowl and earning a new lucrative contract with the team.

With Smith and company able to stay competitive in the post-Wilson era, Seattle punched their ticket to the NFL playoffs with a winning record of 9-8 but fell short to the division-rival San Francisco 49ers in the postseason.

Heading into 2023, many have wondered whether they can have a repeat performance or take the next step toward being a legitimate contender in the NFC.

On “The Rich Eisen Show,” the longtime NFL analyst discussed the upcoming season for the Seahawks and seems optimistic about Seattle’s chances in 2023.

Eisen went through the schedule for the Seahawks for the 2023 campaign, and there looks to be a lot of tough matchups from start to finish, even though they benefit from playing in a weaker NFC this season.

As Eisen points out, the Seahawks will face the Detroit Lions, New York Giants, and Cincinnati Bengals in the first six weeks of the season, with a bye in Week 5, so that’s tough in itself if all three teams live up to the hype.

They also go on to face other tough opponents like the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens,  San Francisco 49ers twice (divisional matchup), Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
