The Cincinnati Bengals suffered a serious scare when they saw star quarterback Joe Burrow go down with a calf injury during training camp.
Burrow has dealt with several injuries already since being drafted No. 1 overall in 2020, and this latest injury raised panic among the fanbase.
The former LSU Tiger has been unable to practice at all since going down with the calf injury, a troubling sign because Week 1 is quickly approaching.
While getting Burrow back as quickly as possible would be preferable, the Bengals understand he needs to be 100-percent healthy and not risk any sort of re-injury.
Fortunately, Zac Taylor gave a positive update on Burrow, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
“He looks great,” Taylor said. “Physically walking around, he looks as good as he’s ever looked.”

Coaches have a tendency to downplay injuries and Taylor’s comments fall in line with that line of thinking as Burrow can’t possibly be doing that well if he’s unable to practice.
However, it is encouraging to hear that Taylor and the rest of the Bengals aren’t overly concerned with Burrow as he appears on track to return.
While it’s anyone’s guess if the quarterback will actually get some practices in before the season begins, the fact of the matter is that the Bengals should be fine as long as he suits up.
Burrow has turned himself into one of the best young signal-callers in the league and he’s able to remain healthy then Cincinnati has as good a shot as any to make the Super Bowl.
