Stephen A. Smith won’t definitively say that Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors is the best point guard of all time.
But he will say that Curry at least warrants consideration for the title.
On his show, Smith made it clear that Magic Johnson was the “quintessential” point guard.
“There’s nobody better than Magic Johnson” when it comes to running plays, finding teammates, and facilitating, according to Smith.
But Curry needs to be remembered for the way he impacted the game and his shooting ability too, Smith added.
“I’m asking y’all to take into consideration the word ‘impact,’” he said.

There is no objectively correct answer in the debate of who is the best point guard of all time.
However, many people consider Curry and Johnson to be the two best players to ever fill that position.
Curry was asked about his own opinion about the greatest point guard the other day and didn’t shy away from including himself with Johnson.
It’s hard to argue against him.
Curry might not be as talented a passer as Johnson and he might not be as physically imposing as him either.
But there is no doubt that Curry is perhaps the greatest shooter of all time and he is rarely without the ball, a true indication of his power and leadership on the court.
Years from now, when Curry has retired, this debate will continue to rage on.
And it’s very likely that Curry and Johnson will still be the most talked-about point guards when people discuss who did it best.
The fact that these two players are continually brought up when people have this debate shows just how talented and downright historic they both are.
