There are more than enough reasons to be excited if you’re a Washington Commanders fan right now.

The Commanders will have new ownership once and for all, and ones that are willing to go the extra mile and spend big bucks to solve their very obvious issues.

But more than that, having Eric Bieniemy designing their new offense and a promising quarterback in Sam Howell gives them a glimpse of hope for the future.

Notably, even Hall of Famer Troy Aikman is excited about the 2023 Commanders.

Talking during the MNF broadcast, the Dallas Cowboys legend raved about WR Terry McLaurin, stating that he expects him to have a breakout season if Sam Howell turns out to be as good as advertised (via Nicki Jhabvala).

Troy Aikman on the MNF broadcast: “I expect Terry McLaurin, who’s already a fantastic player, to have a huge season this year if Sam Howell can do some of the things that they hope he can do. because this offense is tailor-made for him.”

Moreover, Aikman states that the offense is tailor-made for Howell, and he’s definitely looked the part thus far during training camp and the preseason.

He entered the league with mixed reviews, with some believing he would struggle to make the adjustment to the NFL, given the kind of offense he played in college.

Also, he’s not the tallest QB you’ll find out there, and his footwork was suboptimal during his days with the UNC Tar Heels.

Nonetheless, most comments coming from the Commanders’ training camp have been quite positive, and it seems like the organization has the utmost confidence in him going forward.

It’s been a while since the Washington Commanders last had a legit franchise quarterback, and the wait might finally be over for them.
