The Indianapolis Colts have found themselves in a precarious position.
Throughout the offseason, running back Jonathan Taylor has been looking for a new contract.
Yet, the Colts have been reluctant to pay him top dollar.
It is clear Taylor does not want to be in Indianapolis.
He requested a trade from the team, and up to this point the Colts’ front office had shown no interest in moving him.
But the tune has changed in Indianapolis as they are now allowing Taylor to seek a trade.
The Colts are not just going to give him away.
They expect a first-round pick back in return or a package equaling that much for their All-Pro running back.
Update: Executives don’t believe Jonathan Taylor will net the #Colts a 1st round pick/package that is worth that much, via @AlbertBreer
Breer asked multiple execs about how much Taylor is worth in a trade with the new contract involved:

According to Albert Breer via Dov Kleiman, many executives around the league think the Colts will not be able to get that much back for Taylor.
The most these executives think they could get back are a second and third-round pick.
It is funny to see the Colts wanting so much for Taylor after showing how little value he has to them.
They will not pay him to be one of the top running backs in the NFL but they want a massive trade package in return.
When running backs get signed to long-term deals it rarely works out for the team.
But Taylor is only entering his fourth NFL season and only has one year with over 300 carries.
At 24 years old Taylor is still in his prime.
If he will not play for the Colts, some team will be lucky to have him.
