There have been several storylines to take over the NFL’s offseason, but the running back situation has prevailed as one of the largest.

Josh Jacobs has been in a widely-known dispute with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Raiders failed to re-sign Jacobs to a long-term deal, leading to his reported unhappiness.

There have been rumors that Jacobs would like to be traded, and Cameron Wolfe recently reported the Miami Dolphins made an “exploratory call.”

Dolphins made an exploratory call on 2022 rushing champ Josh Jacobs but talks didn’t go far, per source. Raiders told teams they don’t plan to trade Jacobs.

Miami has some interest in elite RB trade market — Jonathan Taylor, Jacobs — but only up to a certain price, I’m told.

As Wolfe indicates, this conversation was short, as the Raiders have no plans to get rid of Jacobs.

Jacobs led the league in rushing during the 2022 season and is seen as one of the league’s premier backs.

With this in mind, the Dolphins might not be happy with their current running back situation.

They were in the mix for Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliott, who ended up going to different teams.

Wolfe also mentions they are interested in Jonathan Taylor, but only if the contract made sense for both parties.

With Jacobs allegedly not an option, the Dolphins could turn their attention to Taylor.

He is currently in the midst of a struggle with the Indianapolis Colts, also requesting a trade.

Will the Dolphins pursue Taylor?

There are less than three weeks until the regular season begins, and time is running out for both parties.

The next few weeks should be telling for the Dolphins, particularly what they think about their running backs.
