The New York Yankees have decided to inject some fresh blood to their roster and recently called up Oswald Peraza and Everson Pereira.
We have been seeing the talented Peraza since last year and it’s good to finally watch him play regularly for the Yankees.
Pereira, on the other hand, made his MLB debut this week.
After a few hitless plate appearances and three strikeouts to open his Thursday afternoon performance, he finally delivered in the bottom of the eighth.
With two outs, he deposited a Jordan Weems 3-2 pitch to left field on a loud line drive, scoring himself a double and drawing applauses and cheers from his family in the stands.
The Yankees posted the video and it was a wholesome family moment.

The team sure hopes it was the first of many hits in a long, fruitful MLB career for Pereira.
He has been a Yankees prospect for years, and finally enjoyed a sustained breakout in 2023.
He opened the season in Double-A and slashed a cool .291/.362/.545.
That line forced the Yanks to promote him to Triple-A, where was even better with a .312/.386/.551 performance.
Between the two levels, he accumulated 18 home runs and 11 stolen bases.
Basically, he forced his way into the Yankees’ plans and the team couldn’t be more happy about that.
New York needs a change at several key positions, including in the outfield.
If Pereira can be a steady .270/.340/.480-type hitter at the MLB level, they will probably make him a starter and deservedly so.
They are using the 2023 campaign to see what they have in him before deciding on his 2024 role.
