With just over a month left in the regular season, the National League Wild Card race is finally taking shape.

On Thursday, the Arizona Diamondbacks won a wild game against the Cincinnati Reds.

With the win, Arizona jumped over Cincinnati in the Wild Card race and now is in possession of the third and final spot in the National League.

These two teams are currently battling it out for that final spot, and it should make for an exciting race down the stretch as these two teams seek to reach the postseason and continue their surprise seasons.

On Twitter, MLB insider Bob Nightengale noted just how interesting things are getting in the Wild Card race.

It’s going to be a tight race between the Reds and Diamondbacks, who are currently facing off against one another in a weekend series.

However, they are not alone.

Tied with the Reds at just a half-game back are the San Francisco Giants.

The Miami Marlins also cannot be overlooked as we enter the stretch run of the season.

The Reds entered Thursday’s game in the lead for the final Wild Card spot, with Arizona and San Francisco tied behind them.

But the Diamondbacks have shown that they aren’t going to go away quietly.

As things stand right now, it’s a four-team race for the final Wild Card spot.

Arizona and Cincinnati are fighting it out right now, but San Francisco and Miami are also teams that cannot be overlooked as we move closer to September.
