Giannis Antetokounmpo has been loyal to the Milwaukee Bucks since joining the NBA.
But a recent comment he made about commitment has people thinking that he could possibly leave the team in the future.
If he does, every team in the league will leap at the chance to acquire him.
Stephen A. Smith is very hopeful that his New York Knicks woo him.
“When he said what he said, all I thought about was the Knicks got a chance,” Smith said on ESPN Friday morning.
It is not surprising to hear that Smith wants Antetokounmpo to come to the Knicks.
A die-hard New York follower, Smith has called on countless stars to suit up for his team, with little to no success.
But Smith might actually be onto something here.
The Knicks have actually set themselves up well to win an A-list All-Star over the next few years.
They have slowly but surely built a strong core on their roster.
Jalen Brunson was the missing piece that finally made this team truly competitive again.
Throughout that process, they have also been smart with their money and now have enough to pay for a big NBA talent.
They could probably secure a couple of superstars if they are smart about their contracts.
So, if Antetokounmpo really does decide to leave the Bucks, the Knicks would absolutely have a shot at signing him.
Right now, this is just wishful thinking from Smith.
But within the next few years, it could be a reality.
Even if the Knicks don’t get Antetokounmpo, they could get someone just as big.
