The NFC East is once again one of the toughest divisions in the NFL coming into the 2023 campaign, with all four teams potentially being legitimate playoff contenders and two of the teams arguably being in the Super Bowl conversation.
Although the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Giants are getting all the attention right now, the Washington Commanders might be a team that is getting overlooked and shouldn’t be.
Frank Schwab of Yahoo Sports believes that the Commanders could very well finish ahead of the Giants this season if everything goes well in the nation’s capital.
It’s a somewhat hot take considering what the Giants were able to accomplish under Brian Daboll last season, but this could be the year that the Commanders start to prove their worth, especially after the change in ownership, which might have lit a fire under the team.
“Good coach, good defense, if [Sam] Howell’s competent, yeah, I like that call on the Commanders.”@YahooSchwab says Washington has enough to finish ahead of the Giants on You Pod To Win The Game.

Schwab believes the combination of Ron Rivera, a Chase Young-led defense, and a competent second-year quarterback in Sam Howell might be all that is needed for the Commanders to make some noise in 2023, and he may not be wrong.
With so many good teams in the NFC East, the Commanders are getting overlooked, which means all the pressure is on the Giants, Eagles, and Cowboys.
If the Commanders can put it together in 2023, Washington might be able to surprise some people and potentially become a force to be reckoned with in the NFC, which is as weak as the conference has ever been.
Only time will tell, but the Commanders might be a dark horse in the NFC.
