There was a time when some NBA players didn’t do much in the offseason as far as training and ended up reporting to training camp out of shape.

But these days, they’re more meticulous and disciplined when it comes to working on their craft, and they’re more focused on their diet, conditioning, and getting enough sleep.

They also play ball during the latter part of the offseason to make sure they’re ready to hit the ground running when training camp starts.

NBA stars Bam Adebayo and Donovan Mitchell joined some other players to hoop it up at Miami University recently.

Adebayo’s Miami Heat are coming off another Cinderella run to the NBA Finals, and they’re looking to prove that their journey there was no fluke when the 2023-24 season begins.

Of course, the Heat are seemingly in waiting as they hope to pull off a blockbuster trade for Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard, and with a month to go before training camp, they still have time to land Lillard and become the favorites in the Eastern Conference.

Meanwhile, Mitchell transformed the Cleveland Cavaliers from an upstart squad to one that claimed the fourth seed in the East this past season.

The Cavs are probably not ready to win the world championship, but if big man Evan Mobley takes a big step forward toward All-Star status, they could perhaps do a strong imitation of a title contender and even upset a team such as Miami or the Boston Celtics in the playoffs.
