All summer long, the Miami Heat and star Jimmy Butler have been waiting for the breaking news that Damian Lillard has been traded to the team in a blockbuster deal that will make them the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference next season.
After telling the Portland Trail Blazers he wanted to be traded back in July, Lillard quickly made it clear that he wants to play alongside Butler and his close friend Bam Adebayo in Miami and really has no desire to play anywhere else.
Unfortunately for the Heat, a deal still hasn’t come to fruition between the Heat and Blazers, as many believe a third or fourth team might be needed to get something done, with Portland not liking proposed trade packages.
Despite no trade coming to fruition at this point in the summer, Butler seems to be still optimistic that something will get done sooner rather than later, with his recent gesture to a fan during one of his basketball camps, via NBACentral.

Butler giving the signal for “Dame Time” by pointing to his wrist after cooking a camper on the basketball floor shows that his potential future teammate may be on his mind at the moment.
If Lillard can somehow be traded to the Heat, the consensus around the league is that Miami might be the team to beat heading into the 2023-24 NBA season, with the team sporting an intimidating Big 3 of Butler, Adebayo, and Lillard.
Only time will tell if something gets done, as the start of the 2023-24 campaign is rapidly approaching.
