Trey Lance was traded from the San Francisco 49ers to the Dallas Cowboys, one of the most unexpected moves from the offseason.
Lance has only been in the NFL for two seasons, and many believe he hasn’t gotten a fair shot.
Jimmy Garoppolo recently spoke out about the situation, believing Lance can still make it in this league.
According to Garoppolo via Pro Football Talk, “Dude’s got talent. Just got to get him out there.”

If Lance gets playing time, Garoppolo believes he’ll be okay, getting another chance to succeed in the NFL.
Lance has only started four career games due to injuries and being behind Garoppolo on the depth chart.
Now that he’s on the Cowboys, Lance could find himself as the QB2 on their roster, getting a potential opportunity if Dak Prescott gets injured.
Garoppolo knows this situation all too well, as he sat behind Tom Brady in New England before getting an opportunity in San Francisco.
Whether Lance gets a chance to see significant NFL playing time remains to be seen.
He was a top-three pick for a reason, and the 49ers are widely viewed as one of the league’s best organizations.
They saw something in him on draft night, a reason they traded three first-round picks for Lance.
With any luck, Lance will learn a lot from Prescott and his Cowboys teammates, using that to his advantage.
Brock Purdy had an unexpected opportunity to be the 49ers starter in 2022 and is now the team’s starter for the 2023 season as well.
Can Lance experience a similar fortune?
