The Toronto Blue Jays are certainly a team to keep an eye on down the stretch.

They are only 2.5 games back of the third and final Wild Card spot in the American League.

One player in particular has been quite instrumental in their success over the past several years.

Outfielder George Springer has been valuable to the Blue Jays, especially this year.

He drove in a run on Monday night as the Blue Jays pulled off a 6-3 victory over the Washington Nationals.

When he drives in a run, the team is 31-12 this season, which amounts to a .720 winning percentage.

When he either doesn’t play or drive in a run, the team owns a 41-48 record.

That’s a mere .461 winning percentage.

On Twitter, Jon Morosi of MLB Network pointed out these numbers.

George Springer is a difference-maker for the Blue Jays.

When he drives in a run — as he did last night — the Jays are 31-12, a .720 winning percentage.

When he doesn’t play or produce an RBI, they are 41-48, a .461 winning percentage. @MLBNetwork @FAN590 @Sportsnet

These aren’t always numbers that are going to stand out to fans, but they do show just how valuable Springer is to the Blue Jays and what the team is capable of when he is in the lineup and producing.

With him not in the lineup or not driving in runs, the Blue Jays are a completely different team, and not for the better, which is why having him in the lineup and having him producing at a high level is so crucial for the team.

As of now, the Blue Jays own a record of 72-60.

They reached the postseason last year as the top Wild Card team in the American League.

They’ll look to chase down the Astros for the final Wild Card spot in the coming weeks.
