Team USA has been rolling through the 2023 FIBA World Cup competition and at the forefront of their success is Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.

Edwards has established himself as the alpha on the roster and is showing the world that he is one of the best players in the game today.

After a couple of quiet performances against New Zealand and Greece, Edwards returned to his usual self in the rout over Jordan with a 22-point game.

Jordan had absolutely no answer for the Timberwolves guard as he attacked them over and over for easy buckets.

The All-Star has really come into his own as a scorer and leader and is looking like a true superstar on the floor with each passing game.

Scoring’s never been a problem for Edwards which is why he believes he can try to break Kevin Durant’s single-game scoring record for Team USA via Basket News.

Durant scored 38 points in the 2010 FIBA World Cup against Lithuania, so Edwards will need to be at his best to surpass that mark.

Edwards came close in exhibition play as he dropped 34 points in a comeback win against Germany which shows he has the ability to break the record.

However, one thing working against him is that the Americans have routed most of the teams they’ve faced which leaves fewer opportunities for Edwards to carry the offense.

Perhaps there will be a game during the tournament that requires Edwards to be more aggressive, but for now the team is happy to continue their winning ways.
