Patriots Are Remembering A Special Tom Brady Moment Today

April 16, 2000 was the day the New England Patriots, the NFL, and even major sports changed forever.

It was the day the Patriots took Michigan quarterback Tom Brady with the 199th overall pick.

Brady went on to win six Super Bowls with the organization before winning another one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, becoming perhaps the greatest football player of all time and a signature name in professional sports.

We already know how Brady’s career panned out, but it’s always nice to go down memory lane.

The Patriots did just that by unearthing the very first conference call that Brady held with reporters just after being drafted 23 years ago (via Ari Meirov).

In the tape, the young quarterback lauds Drew Bledsoe and claims he’s looking forward to learning from him, also stating that they were actually similar players.

He also talks about being comfortable with the team that took him, stating that it didn’t matter if he went in the second or the sixth round because he was going to compete hard regardless.

This audio surfaced in the wake of the Patriots’ celebration of Brady’s career next weekend at their home opener for the 2023 season.

And even at that young age, Brady was already a guy driven to be great, and he knew he was poised to leave his mark on the history of this game.

Of course, plenty of things had to go his way for him to even have a chance to prove his worth, but he always stayed ready.
