The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have a big problem on their hands to start the 2023 NFL season, with star wide receiver Mike Evans not happy with the way contract negotiations are going with the team.
Thus, he has put a deadline on when contract talks will stop if a deal is not done.
On September 9, if a new deal isn’t struck between Evans and the Buccaneers, the contract talks will be over, which leads many to believe that he’ll be headed elsewhere in the near future.
This has created a lot of speculation about Evans’ future, as he is one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL, with nine straight seasons racking up 1,000 receiving yards or more.
That is an impressive stat, to say the least, especially considering he has 81 touchdowns during the course of those nine seasons as well.
Although Evans’ stats alone will make him an attractive wideout for teams, former NFL star Aqib Talib revealed why the New England Patriots should not be a team the veteran wide receiver should consider, via Kay Adams.

The Patriots are famously one of the stingiest franchises in the NFL, as the team is usually unwilling to pay high prices for star players even if they seem worth the money.
That said, Talib doesn’t believe the Patriots will give Evans the money that he wants to get paid and, therefore, he would not be a great fit in New England.
Talib believes that Evans is one of the few true deep threats in the NFL today and that rarity should be rewarded.
