Over the last four seasons, Zion Williamson has been one of the NBA’s more talented players, but he has had lots of trouble staying healthy.

The New Orleans Pelicans forward missed all of the 2021-22 season with a foot injury, and he was forced to sit out for much of this past season due to a bad hamstring that was slow to heal.

Will Guillory of The Athletic says that Williamson has been working on his body this offseason in order to reduce his risk of injury and have a successful year.

Been hearing good things about the work Zion’s putting in this summer.

Was told he’s been really focused on making sure his body is prepared for a long season. Think he’s gonna come in with a chip on his shoulder. pic.twitter.com/m1bkf4bhyc

Williamson has been criticized by some for not being diligent about his strength and conditioning work, especially in the wake of his many injuries.

In four NBA seasons he has played in a grand total of 114 games, and his high water mark in terms of games played in a season was 61.

He hasn’t appeared in as many as 30 games in any other season thus far.

However, when the Duke University product has been healthy, he has been a force to be reckoned with.

He has career averages of 25.8 points a game and 60.5 percent field-goal shooting, and when he wheels into the paint, he seems nearly unstoppable.

At 6-foot-6 and close to 300 pounds, he has some ball-handling skills, which has earned him some comparisons to Charles Barkley, the superstar Hall of Famer from the 1980s and 1990s.

If Williamson somehow stays relatively healthy this coming season, the Pelicans will have a roster that could go deep in the playoffs if enough things go right for them.
