With LeBron James being in the NBA for more than half of his life at this point, young players can learn a lot from the Los Angeles Lakers superstar if they are willing to soak up the knowledge when it is given.
Former first-round pick Jalen Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks recently had the opportunity to pick James’ brain during this NBA offseason and made the best of it, learning as much as he could from the four-time NBA champion.
The former Duke University star is trying to make a name for himself on the NBA level and has found it difficult after two years in Atlanta, as he’s seen his numbers go down rather than up.
However, the new-found knowledge from James might be just what the 21-year-old needs to turn things around with the Hawks, as he said the following about his time with James via Lauren L. Williams of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“(Lebron’s) giving me pointers on how to do certain moves, how to be more effective with certain moves, little tricks, just kind of when we’re working out,” he said.

So, just hearing that from him, having that as someone that I can reach out and ask questions to now, you know, it’s cool.” https://t.co/tqvZB1W1TE

Sometimes, all it takes is learning the tricks of the trade from someone who has figured out how to dominate the game and be consistent for two decades.
Johnson should feel fortunate that he’s been given this opportunity and make the most of it because if he doesn’t turn it around soon, he might not have much of a chance down the road, as it’s hard to stay relevant in the NBA, especially on a team that struggles to live up to expectations like the Hawks.
Only time will tell if Johnson can put this knowledge to use and become a household name in Atlanta.
