The Golden State Warriors season obviously didn’t end the way they hoped it would.
But actually, it was hard to think it would’ve been any different, considering the terrible start they got off to.
Jordan Poole’s physical altercation with Draymond Green spiraled, and Green admitted he failed to step up as a leader later in the season because he knew he had failed his team.
And now that the Warriors have parted ways with Poole, most people speculated that his alleged beef with Green may have forced the Warriors’ hand to make that trade.
With that in mind, team owner Joe Lacob told Tim Kawakami that, while that’s a valid concern, he strongly believes they could’ve worked things out and coexisted in the locker room.
“I don’t want to say absolutely that’s true, I think it’s fair to say there was some level of concern going forward whether that would be something that would work out,” Lacob said. “To be honest with you, I think it would have worked out and could have worked out. But I think it is fair to say, in order to make the numbers work next year, someone is probably going to be the odd man out. It just turned out, and it wasn’t planned, that it was Jordan. I really think Jordan’s a great player and we’re going to miss him. I know he had a tough playoffs, but he actually had a pretty good year.”

Also, we cannot ignore the fact that they needed to get some money off their books if they wanted to keep Green for the long run, so they had to make a tough call anyway.
There were multiple reports about Poole getting in several veterans’ faces throughout the course of the season, and he didn’t seem too pleased with coach Steve Kerr, either.
Now, he has the perfect opportunity to prove his worth and break out as one of the league’s finest scorers in Washington.
The Warriors, on the other hand, took a big risk by getting Chris Paul, who is one of the best point guards in the history of the game, but his style isn’t exactly suited to Steve Kerr’s offense.
