The Kansas City Chiefs desperately need to fix their issues with Chris Jones.

The superstar defensive tackle has been nowhere to be found throughout the course of the offseason, sharing countless cryptic comments on social media and piling up fines for his absences.

Recently, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Jones simply will not show up and suit up for them unless he gets the contract he wants.

Rapoport states that there have been some talks regarding a new deal, but unless they get close to a potential contract, he’s in serious jeopardy of missing Thursday night’s season opener vs. the Detroit Lions.

Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes have already stated that as much as they would love to have Jones on the field, the Chiefs will be ready to take on the Lions regardless of who’s there and who’s not.

Jones is one of the most dominant defenders in the league, and losing him would be a massive blow to the Chiefs’ aspirations of going back-to-back as Super Bowl champions.

But after piling up more than $2 million in fines, it’s become evident that Jones has no intention whatsoever of putting an end to his holdout, and some fear he could even sit out throughout the entire season if that’s what it takes.

Jones wants a similar deal to Rams star Aaron Donald’s and has turned down multiple offers already.

He’s entering the final year of his contract, and barring a surprise, he won’t be on the field for the Chiefs anytime soon.
