It looks like the Los Angeles Dodgers will be without starting pitcher Julio Urias for a while.

According to Jeff Passan, he was arrested on Sunday night after another domestic violence incident, the second in his career.

“Los Angeles Dodgers starter Julio Urías was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence charges late last night, an officer with the LAPD tells ESPN. Urias, 27, was booked late Sunday and released early this morning on $50,000 bond,” Passan reported.

In 2019, Urias was placed on paid administrative leave by MLB in May, stemming from a domestic battery investigation.

He wound up being suspended for 20 games.

As a repeat offender, the chances of a longer suspension by MLB are significant, not to mention the potential legal process that could ensue if the allegations are correct.

With the news having just been revealed, the league or the Dodgers still hadn’t made a statement or a release at the moment of writing this article.

With a 4.60 ERA in 117.1 innings, Urias was actually having one of the worst seasons of his career.

He made his most recent start on Friday against the Atlanta Braves, allowing five earned runs in five innings of work.

Losing Urias for any significant period of time would represent a huge blow for their World Series aspirations.

Despite his mediocre performance in 2023, Urias has a 3.11 career ERA and has been one of the most reliable pitchers in LA since making his MLB debut in 2016.

More details will be reported as they become available.

There is a chance Urias threw his last pitch of 2023.
