Steve Kerr is taking a break from coaching the Golden State Warriors to lead Team USA in the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
And he believes that his squad is positioned to end the tournament strongly.
After a misstep days ago against Team Lithuania, America came back strongly and took down Team Italy on Tuesday morning.
Kerr believes the Americans will only get stronger in the days ahead, as they can taste ultimate victory coming.
According to Donatas Urbonas, Kerr said: “The horse starts picking up the pace when it sees it’s near the barn. Our guys are sensing the end of the journey, and the energy, pace, and force are picked up.”

In other words, Team USA knows they are getting close to winning the entire tournament.
Because of that, they are playing better and with more determination and desire to work together well and win it all.
Just a few days ago, Team USA disappointed millions of fans when they fell to their Lithuanian opponents.
But they walked away from that loss with a drive to get back on track.
Tuesday’s massive win over Italy showed that they are definitely headed in the right direction again.
Multiple players were tuned in and ready to play.
Mikal Bridges put up 24 points, while Tyrese Haliburton scored 18 and Austin Reaves produced 12 of his own.
Jalen Brunson, Paolo Banchero, Brandon Ingram, and Bobby Portis all chipped in a lot too.
Bridges might have been the biggest star of the game but it was a team effort.
It’ll need to stay that way moving forward.
The American team simply cannot lose another game as the World Cup reaches its conclusion.
In order to win it all, this needs to be the start of Team USA’s next undefeated streak.
