The FIBA World Cup is officially down to only four teams, with two intriguing matchups for the semifinals, with Team USA set to take on Germany and Canada going head-to-head against Serbia.
All four of these teams are more than capable of winning it all in this tournament, with some pretty notable names from the NBA on each squad moving forward.
Although the Americans are still favored to walk away with gold, Dennis Schroder and his German squad are determined to make them work for it.
One interesting part of Germany and the United States going up against one another in this semifinal is Schroder taking on his old Los Angeles Lakers teammate Austin Reaves, who he became close with last season.
Schroder talked about looking forward to going head-to-head with Reaves on Friday, via Nicole Ganglani of Basketball Network.
Dennis Schroder on facing Austin Reaves in the semifinals:
“That’s my guy man. I aint got nothing but love for him. He’s my guy. Last year was special, what we accomplished as teammates and yeah, I’m looking forward to it.” pic.twitter.com/lSTvWHQfA3

Even though Schroder signed a lucrative two-year deal with the Toronto Raptors this summer, he clearly still has a close relationship with Reaves and is looking forward to this matchup, which could be a hard-fought battle from start to finish.
Despite being the favorites to come out on top in this tournament, the Americans suffered their first loss recently to Lithuania, showing this team could be beaten, meaning Germany could come into this matchup with a little extra confidence.
The German squad is headlined by Schroder and Franz and Moritz Wagner, who have become a dynamic trio throughout the FIBA World Cup and will be tough to contain for Team USA later this week.
