A new era could be starting for the Indianapolis Colts this season.
Star running back Jonathan Taylor has been holding out in the hope of securing a huge new contract, and he has asked to be traded after he couldn’t come to terms with management on a new deal.
In addition, the Colts have a new starting quarterback in Anthony Richardson, the No. 4 pick in April’s draft, and he seems to have plenty of potential.
One thing that impressed teams about Richardson leading up to the draft was his character, and it is showing as the Colts prepare for their Week 1 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Per Stephen Holder, head coach Shane Steichen said Richardson has been working hard and putting in lots of time to make sure he’s ready for Sunday’s game.
Colts HC Shane Steichen: QB Anthony Richardson spent eight hours at the Colts facility on Tuesday on a players’ day off, getting a jump on preparation for Sunday’s opener.
Yes, other QBs do this, but this is in line w everything his teammates have said about his professionalism.

Richardson’s stats at the University of Florida weren’t eye-popping, but he did run for 654 yards and nine touchdowns last season.
In fact, it has led some to feel he has the potential to become similar to established star dual-threat QBs such as Josh Allen once he gets used to the pro game.
However, if the Colts hope to be competitive this season, there will have to be some sort of resolution to the Taylor saga.
He will miss at least the first four games of the season, as he has been placed on the physically unable to perform list due to his claiming to be experiencing residual pain in his ankle after he injured it last year.
Taylor is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
