With a little less than a month to go until training camp opens up, the Los Angeles Lakers managed to bolster their roster further when they signed Christian Wood.

Wood agreed to a two-year deal with the Lakers for the minimum, a bargain value for a proven scorer and outside shooting threat at the center position.

For most of the offseason, the one need Los Angeles needed to address was their frontcourt depth so Wood makes for a perfect addition to a team that is already deep.

Signing with Los Angeles is the best move for Wood as he looks to rehab his value after falling out of favor with the Dallas Mavericks last season.

Despite putting up impressive numbers, Wood struggled to find a suitable deal that paved the way for him to return home to Southern California.

Shortly after the news broke, Wood expressed how excited he was to join the Lakers while also throwing shade at the Mavericks via Marc J. Spears of ESPN.

“I’m looking forward to this and for sure motivated after what Dallas did,” Wood wrote.

Wood is most likely referring to Dallas refusing to re-sign him in free agency as well as limiting his role and minutes toward the end of the regular season.

There’s never been a question about Wood’s talent, but he is widely perceived as a negative locker room presence and a selfish player.

However, he won’t be able to act that way on a veteran-laden team like the Lakers and it’ll be interesting to see how much he contributes on a team that has title aspirations.
