The Los Angeles Angels are playing without Mike Trout.
They waived Randal Grichuk, Matt Moore, Reynaldo Lopez, Lucas Giolito and several other deadline acquisitions.
Shohei Ohtani is not pitching because of an elbow injury and has been affected by an oblique ailment in the last couple of days, too.
Anthony Rendon is openly mocking the press, and nobody does a thing.
Meanwhile, the team keeps losing and losing.
The once-promising Angels are, as of Thursday afternoon, 64-76.
They have been a disaster ever since the trade deadline ended.
They were just swept and there is no ending in sight for their agony.
“The Angels lost today to the Orioles. They were swept. They have lost 6 in a row, and 9-of-10. They’re 8-25 since the trade deadline. It’s been bad. Very bad,” Angels insider Sam Blum tweeted.

Wow.
Those are some ugly recent results.
The worst thing of all is that they actually opted to keep Ohtani and actually trade for some contributors to aid their postseason bid.
Now, they will likely lose Ohtani for nothing other than a high draft pick, because he is highly unlikely to re-sign in Los Angeles.
They were in a very uncomfortable position: if they traded him, they would have said goodbye to the idea of bringing him back in all likelihood.
If they kept him, well, we are watching the worst-case scenario.
The Angels will likely have to start all over in 2024 without their top star and a depleted farm system.
It’s certainly not an enviable position.
