Despite having a fine set of young NBA talent, Team USA couldn’t get the job done in the FIBA World Cup.

Steve Kerr’s team fell to Germany, which continues to be the only undefeated team left in the tournament.

Dennis Schroder and former NBA player Isaac Bonga were at their best in this medal-clinching matchup, and the Germans led by double digits late in the game.

Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson, and Austin Reaves helped the team rally and made it a one-possession game, but some offensive miscues and defensive issues led to this elimination.

Needless to say, plenty of fans took to Twitter to react to NBA Central’s post about this heartbreaking news.

Truth be told, this outcome was hardly a surprise.

Team USA featured mostly young players, and they hadn’t even played together before, unlike most other national teams.

Overall, those young men did a very good job, all things considered, and they shouldn’t be blamed, not to mention the fact that Germany played an almost perfect game.

But it seems like USA Basketball has failed to realize that this is a global sport and the talent gap between Team USA and the rest of the world has gotten significantly smaller.

USA and Canada will now square off for the bronze medal, while Germany and Serbia will look to claim the title of World Champions.
