The San Francisco 49ers enter the season as one of the best teams in the league, and especially in the NFC.

However, as stacked as they are on both sides of the field, it would be a mistake to assume that they would just run away with the NFC West division title.

According to Seahawks legend Richard Sherman — who also played for the Niners –, the Seahawks are going to be one of the biggest dark horses in the league next season.

In the latest edition of his podcast, he raved about QB Geno Smith, stating that he expects him to break multiple records and lead the team to the playoffs again this season.

“I expect Geno to break a couple records this year”

Moreover, him being a defensive-minded player, Sherman talked about how important Tariq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon will be for the team, although the latter is unlikely to be on the field come Week 1.

He also talked about the Seahawks having one of the best safety tandems in the league with Julian Love and Quandre Diggs out there.

The Seahawks made the most of every single asset they got in the Russell Wilson trade.

It seemed like they were going to be in for a long and winding road back to the top, but that wasn’t the case last season.

And with the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals most likely out of contention this year, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Seattle Seahawks go head to head with the Niners for the top of the NFC West.
