The San Francisco 49ers began their season with a blowout victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After being called one of the NFC’s elite teams throughout the offseason, the 49ers delivered an epic Week 1 performance.
Before this matchup, Patrick Peterson of the Steelers called out Purdy, believing he would record an interception in this game.
Purdy seemed to hear this challenge, as he responded to it during his postgame press conference.
According to Purdy via Ari Meirov, “The second touchdown on the right side, the deep ball, was that on Patrick Peterson?”

Purdy asked this question with a slight grin on his face, knowing he won this battle.
Peterson and the Steelers secondary struggled throughout this contest, allowing Purdy to throw for 220 yards and two touchdowns.
Although he is entering his second year in the league, Purdy seemed confident in the pocket throughout this contest, even though the Steelers have a lot of defensive playmakers.
He appeared unphased, and his approach to answering this question seemed to be a direct shot at Peterson.
Throughout the offseason, Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers’ coaching staff demonstrated their faith and trust in Purdy.
The organization has shown belief in him despite significant draft capital, and he delivered a solid Week 1 performance as a result.
Can the 49ers continue this dominant play throughout the season, making it back to the NFC Championship this year?
With upcoming matchups against the Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants, and the Arizona Cardinals, 49ers fans will soon see how this team responds.
